Tennis at Waverley is a year-round sport thanks to our four artificial grass courts, re-surfaced in 2010 and all of which are floodlit, and to our active members. Social tennis sessions take place throughout the year and for those who are more competitive there are plenty of inter club matches.
Waverley is affiliated to the LTA, is a District Performance Club and has attained Tennis Clubmark Accreditation.
Our Club has its own tennis academy – Waverley Tennis Academy. Originally founded by LTA Pro Tam Bruce, it is now run by Scott Tulloch and Juanfran Torres. They have brought a lot of new ideas and different options but keeping the same philosophy: making tennis accessible to all and helping people get the most out of tennis. You can find all the information about it in the section Tennis Academy.
Year round turn-up and mix-in sessions. These are usually on Saturday mornings from 10am to 12 noon and Wednesday evenings from 7pm to 9pm, throughout the year, but are sometimes suspended when there’s a tournament on or during the main league match season. Details on the booking sheets and in notices on the board.
Waverley enters teams in as many of the ESLTA competitions as possible. Currently we have 4 ladies and 3 men’s teams in the East Leagues which allows for a wide range of standards. Teams are also currently entered in the Scottish Cup, Robin Welsh Cup, Inter Club Singles, AEGON Team Tennis, Veterans Leagues, Veterans GB and Winter Leagues.
Waverley enters as many teams as possible (more than one in an age group if we have the players) in the League matches and Scottish Cup matches.
The Waverley Junior Open Tournament is held over a week in the Easter holidays, publicity and entry forms available from the Tennis Scotland website. The closed Club Tennis Tournament is held over three weeks from the end of August.
